Luminaire as artistic designer piece
It is not only the lighting quality that counts, but also the effect of the shadow play. Not for nothing does each copy have its own name. After all, they are art objects with a very practical function. In the meantime some manufacturers have established themselves. In order not to get lost in the rich diversity, we introduce the most important names:
Louis Poulsen: The renowned manufacturer from Denmark sets accents. They are set by means of the perfect combination of function, comfort and ambience. The designers convince with geometric beauties of form that magically break the light. It is worth taking a look at the jewels of Poul Hennigsen, Arne Jacobsen or Verner Panton.
Petite Friture: A fresh, youthful charm emanates from the French brand. The range is not limited to lamps. They only make up part of the furniture range. This also means that whole facilities can be designed with Petite Friture. We are enthusiastic about the creative diversity.
The Architect Lamp: The Danish designer luminaire manufacturer Light Point has founded The Architect Lamp, a sub-label for a range of lamps that are very similar in shape. They are based on a well-known model - the typical desk lamp of the 50s. Whether as a pendant or table lamp, the classic design is always convincing!
Lightyears: Another Danish manufacturer is Lightyears, founded in 2005, which has a Scandinavian heritage and focuses on the unity of light, functionality and aesthetics. The lamp designs are implemented innovatively with materials made of copper, steel, glass and acrylic. The motto "form follows function" always applies.
Lumen Center Italia: The brand has been developing designer lamps since 1976. They even have their own department which deals only with the research and development of lamps and illuminants. The international orientation from France to Italy to Japan creates a cultural diversity that is also reflected in the design. A design that is contemporary and highly innovative.
Tom Dixon: That's a name well known in the world of interior design. The British furniture and lamp designer focuses on large rooms, restaurants, hotels and bars. Accordingly, large-format lamps can also be found here, which convince with their distant, British design.
SLAMP: Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas, Zaha Hadid, Elisa Giovannoni, Lorenza Bozzoli and many other designers make up the face of Slamp. The founder Roberto Ziliani wanted to create a new star in the Italian designer universe. Since the first lamp "Slamp Tube" the designs are often created in a team. The high-quality lamps are manufactured with an excellence of craftsmanship care.
Plumen: Lampshades? Totally unnecessary with a bulb of plumen. The light bulbs are shaped in such a way that they not only glow, but also form a style element in the home. Simple, innovative and excitingly different!
&tradition: Nordic and with a focus on tradition - as the brand name suggests. In the production of the lamps of &tradition craftsmanship meets art. Function meets form and material meets great potential. More than 20 designers are working on every single design object, no matter if furniture or lamp. And convince them!
RIBAG: The focus on simplicity, which shines in its clarity, is at the heart of RIBAG's philosophy. To make the luminaires perfect, the design has been meticulously honed. As a pioneer in the LED age, the success story of the independent company lives to a large extent also from the technological side. Clear, independent, perfectionist!
NYTA: This brand is young and has received numerous awards since 2012. The three passionate luminaire designers present themselves fresh, passionate and with outstanding lighting concepts. Every single lamp in the narrow range speaks for itself!
TECNOLUMEN: If you're a fan of Bauhaus design, you'll find what you're looking for here. The experts for geometric shapes used a wide variety of materials in an extraordinary way. Nickel-plated, polished perforated sheeting or chrome-plated metal creates a very special atmosphere.
B.Lux: The Spanish brand B.Lux has its own production site with a size of over 5000 sqm, because the range is large. Numerous designers make your dreams come true here. The unmistakable style is complemented by a strong sense of sustainability. Values such as humanity and a basic cultural idea also flow into production.
Luceplan: The Luceplan design is characterized by a strong inclination towards technology. In addition to the technical luminaires and lamps designed for industry, there are numerous attractive designs for living spaces. However, the technical touch is also incorporated here. Each lamp is also available as a variant with LED lighting.
Oluce: An Italian design always has a certain attraction. Founded in 1945, Oluce is one of the oldest lamp designers in Italy. The rich experience and play with Murano glass is expressed in the individual objects in a great way.
Kundalini: Young, Italian and sensual. Kundalini has been convincing since 1996 with a playfulness that contrasts with many geometric and simple forms. After all, it is still the light that shapes the atmosphere. At Kundalini she is high on the list of priorities.
Tom Rossau: If there's a material that casts magically beautiful shadows, it's wood. The Danish manufacturer shows how a harmonious, warm play of light can be created with simple means. The lampshades are round, playful and radiate a lot of security. For a pleasantly homely atmosphere!
Lamp Selection & Connections
Once the favourite designer has been found, the further selection for the new lamp is easy. Ask yourself the following questions and you will quickly find what you are looking for:
Fastening: Should the lamp be fastened to the wall / ceiling or is a cable connection sufficient?
Application: For which room is the lamp required?
Type of lamp: Which material is suitable for the room?
Lamp size: How much space should the new lamp be allowed to occupy? Is design or functionality in the foreground?
Please note that certain rooms place special requirements on the lamp. In the bathroom it must have at least protection class IP44 because of the humidity in order to avoid a short circuit. Solar luminaires are recommended for outdoor use, especially if the south side has a lot of light.
