Variety from the designer's hand
Designer armchairs are available in very different looks. Interesting unusual shapes can be found in the design furniture as well as classic looks. Read here what distinguishes the most successful manufacturers:
Arper - clear armchair design and fine leather
The clear design of Arper is reflected in the armchairs. The elegant Colina armchairs and loungers are free of frills. The loungers of the Norma family are characterised by elegance, above all through their fine leather upholstery. The Catifa series also includes armchairs and lounge models, such as the Catifa 80 with its wide seat.
Kristalia - the Elephant Chair becomes an armchair with upholstery
Kristalia's famous Elephant chair can also be used as an armchair. It is available with the well-known chromed base, but now also with wooden legs. The rocking chair is particularly comfortable. This designer chair has been awarded the "The Best of Best Winners of the Interior Innovation Award 2012".
Pedrali - coloured fabric covers for a soft look
Pedrali combines tradition with innovative designs. The products are durable and have a straight-line design. The Babila with sled frame or four-legged frame is an armchair that comes very close to an armchair thanks to its soft fabric cover. And the Gliss Wood shell chair is also an interesting alternative.
Magis - spinning in a designer armchair
Magis design furniture is cult and it takes a bit of courage to decide in favour of these designs. The Proust outdoor armchair, for example, is inspired by the Régence style of the 18th century. The Magis Spun is a real work of art. The circle chair looks like a giant roundabout and can be used both inside and outside. The Nimrod, on the other hand, is strongly reminiscent of the 70s and is characterised by its comfort.
Plank - classic, fine designer armchairs made of leather
The furniture from Plank is functional and timeless, as is the leather armchair Mon Ami. It is not only comfortable and elegant, but also sets accents in the living room with its interesting colours. The Mon Ami can also be used as a chair.
&tradition - traditional danish
The label has dedicated itself entirely to Danish design and is reviving an interesting retro look with the Fly series. Matching the comfortable Fly Chair made of real wood and with down pillow there is the Fly Pouf. The designer armchair Cloud LN1 is very comfortable with its soft cushions and pillows. The Catch Lounge, which complements the innovative Catch chair series from &tradition, also offers a great deal of comfort.
Mater - armchair made of solid oak wood
The Shell Lounge Chair is made of wood, typical of this material. The solid oak wood is combined with saddle leather in this armchair. The Shell Lounge Chair is very low and looks particularly interesting as a single chair in the living area.
Alternatives to the designer armchair
In addition to the classic armchair models, there are other interesting alternatives. Beanbag, for example, no longer belongs only in the youth room. In noble leather optics they also look good in the living room. The classic wing chair is also experiencing a revival in a modern look, for example the "Wingback" armchair by Tom Dixon or the "Take a walk for a line" by Moroso.
Did you know that the bulge in the ears was originally intended to protect the nobles from the draughts in castles and fortresses? The modern variants are less bulky, but nevertheless extremely comfortable.
Location, material, shape - this is important when buying a chair
Location: The place where the armchair is to be placed determines the colour and style. Although the armchair does not necessarily have to pick up colours from the carpet or wall design, but may also set contradictory accents, the overall picture must nevertheless be right.
Form: If the new armchair is to radiate comfort and cosiness in the room, then designer armchairs with a long seat are suitable. You can lean back a long way in them.
Material: Leather is not everyone's cup of tea, no matter how chic it is. If the armchair often stands in the sun, it can also fade. Think carefully about which material you prefer.
